INVESTIMENTO DI 10 MILIONI DI EURO PER EFFICIENZA E SOSTENIBILITA’
Castelnuovo del Garda (Vr), Oct. 30, 2023 – Work began a few weeks ago to modernize the Castelnuovo del Garda plant of RMI Srl, Rottami Metalli Italia. The company, which deals with the treatment and recovery of scrap metal, changed ownership last July and became part of the RMB Spa Group of Polpenazze del Garda in the province of Brescia. RMB has specialized in the recovery and upgrading of ferrous and nonferrous metals for 42 years.
At RMI’s plant in Castelnuovo del Garda, which has never suspended operations, modernization operations have already involved the construction of a new feed system for the crushing plant of the reclaimed auto packs, to reduce the emissions generated by material handling.
The company plans. within 36 months, to modernize the entire plant with an investment of about ten million euros.
“The goal is to have a company that is efficient and technologically advanced in recovering new raw materials from metal waste while managing the complete cycle with total respect for the environment. To do this, it is necessary to make use of the best available technologies to reduce the environmental impact and to contain the consumption of the energy and water sources used in relation to the quantities of waste treated,” explains RMI CEO Camillo Pilati, who adds, “The objective is to use the authorized potential of the plant for the recovery of ferrous and nonferrous metals to produce new EoW material, through the cold treatment of reclaimed car bodies, mixed ferrous and nonferrous metals, household appliances, end-of-life photovoltaic panels, WEEE and anything that contains metal even in small percentages.”
Refresher courses have already been started for Rottami Metalli Italia staff at RMB’s headquarters in Polpenazze del Garda (BS).
“In a constantly evolving sector like ours for the treatment and recovery of scrap metal,” Pilati adds, “continuous training allows workers to adopt behaviors that guarantee health and safety in their work activities, to acquire the skills necessary for the use of new technologies, and to adopt eco-sustainable practices, thus improving the quality of recovery and reducing environmental impact. New, state-of-the-art machinery will also be installed at the Castelnuovo del Garda plant, enabling the recovery of even those fine metal fractions not currently recovered. The waste emergency, which translates into an environmental emergency that burdens natural resources, has now become unsustainable for our planet, and therefore the adoption of a circular economy model based on the application of concepts such as reuse, recycling, material and energy recovery is urgently needed,” concludes RMI’s CEO.
